White Men Can’t Jump… Accountants can’t market.
In 1992, Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson starred in the movie White Men Can’t Jump. The movie is about a couple of Street Basketball hustlers that sucker unsuspecting people into basketball bets.
Sure it is a stereotype to say someone cannot do something based on race and leaving aside the fact that the basketball ring was lowered for the movie to allow Harrelson to execute the dunk anyway, the MicroCEO for Accountants discussion group are covering the topic of whether Accountants can market and what works this month.
How many times have you heard accountants say the following:
“I get all my clients from referrals”
Now if you do not market, the above is a truism.
Getting your marketing right
The crazy part about this is that the marketing channels and technology are largely available now and they are primarily drag and drop!
Why people are not harness free channels like LinkedIn more I am not sure but it is only a matter of time before the marketers invade and the utility of finding the right mix.
The question is whether the platform along with its opportunities will still be there when Accountants look up from their busy lodgement schedules in time.
We encourage MicroCEO members to share your views in the LinkedIn group now and here is the private post link to do so.
